Quinn Ostovitz

Entering junior year, Quinn Ostovitz picked up the journalism elective as an outlet for writing expression, and her interest in the topic itself quickly grew. She started writing at a young age, taking inspiration from her favorite stories and creating universes in her head to write about. Now that she has grown and learned, Quinn looked to expand her domain, trying new genres to cover and things to write about; enter Journalism. Though she’d never had much interest in non-fiction and informational articles like news before, she very quickly grew to enjoy the idea of sharing things that had an actual impact. Being able to give new perspectives to unheard voices and ideas has always been very important to her.

With her teacher’s assistance in shining a new light upon a topic she’d previously avoided, Quinn found that news could not only be fun instead of dreary- it could be entertaining too. She believes her skills for writing stories made exactly for that purpose would be perfect for the school newspaper. Learning that the articles in the Raider Review could not only inform, but could also persuade and entertain her peers, left Quinn wondering why she hadn’t thought of taking the elective as soon as she’d joined ERHS.

Aside from this newfound passion for reporting and journalism, Quinn has always been a writer, creating stories for herself and her friends since as long as she could remember. Her passion began to expand beyond this in Middle School, where she took a liking to Dungeons & Dragons, among other fantasy books and games. She felt as if it gave her a portal into the very worlds she’d been creating in her head since she was a kid, and brought those ideas to life at last. Though she was diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD the summer before her junior year, Quinn had advocated for accessibility long before then, for all people regardless of race, disabilities, romantic preference, etc. She looks forward to bringing the direct perspective of hers and others’ experiences into the Raider Review.
