Carrillo’s Top 10 Football Picks

Erick Carrillo, Staff Writer

In honor of the beginning of football season, I assembled what in my opinion, is a list of the top ten teams for the 2015/2016 season, as well as brief explanation of why I ranked each team where it is.

Cowboys (2-0): The Dallas Cowboys announced that their quarterback Tony Romo left the team temporarily after breaking his left clavicle during the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brandon Weeden is expected to remain the starting quarterback after replacing Romo in the win.

Patriots (2-0): Insane numbers from Tom Brady, who throws for the second most yards of his career (466) in a 40-32, win over the Bills.

Steelers (1-1): The Steelers have allowed 34 pass TDs since the start of last season, better than only the Bears and Buccaneers.

Packers (2-0): Packers enjoy some solace over the NFC Championship Game loss to Seattle by handling the Seahawks with relative ease at Lambeau, where Aaron Rodgers still hasn’t thrown an interception since December 2012.

Eagles (0-2): Eagles are likely looking for more than a combined 13 yards on 11 rushes from DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews.

Ravens (0-2): For the first time in eight seasons the Ravens are (0-2). The absence of Terrell Suggs, who is done for the year with an Achilles injury, was obvious in a shootout loss to the Raiders.

Giants (0-2): Manning threw it away late against the Cowboys. He had the second-most throwaways last season.

Seahawks (0-2): Seahawks’ 0-1 starts. The team feels the loss of Russell Wilson, who is now 1-3 in his career at St. Louis. He’s 35-10 everywhere else.

Redskins (1-1): Solid effort from Kirk Cousins, who goes 23-of-27 for 203 yards and a touchdown in a 24-10 win over the Rams.
