Mikayla Henderson, Staff Writer
Junior Mikayla Henderson joined journalism to further enhance her love for reading and writing. She finds that writing is therapeutic and another way to express how she is feeling. Writing also gives her a chance to inform people about topics they are unaware of. Her goal is to become an overall better writer. Mikayla is passionate about covering topics about social and political movements such as BLM, women, and abortion rights.
African American Studies is her favorite class at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. She enjoys learning about history that schools traditionally fail to teach students and expanding her mind to new knowledge.
Besides reading and writing Mikayla loves to listen to R&B music as it isolates her from the chaos in the world. In her free time she also enjoys drawing, painting, and doing makeup. Although she does not know specifically what college she wants to attend, she knows that it will be an HBCU. Her love for the arts inspired her to own a makeup business in the future and pursue a Business Administration degree.
