Anna Chen

Anna Chen, a senior at ERHS who has always had trouble expressing her opinions, joined journalism, being a staff writer, as a way to encourage her to express her thoughts and opinions on subjects not talked about a lot. While using journalism as a way to help her express her opinions, she also wishes to use journalism as a way to bring attention to the topics she is passionate about.

Anna plans to utilize journalism as her way to inform her peers about current events occurring that may affect them or those around them. Additionally, she wants to highlight the achievements of those who don’t receive recognition but deserve to.

In addition to journalism, Anna enjoys playing badminton, learning new languages, using Legos to create new and innovative structural improvements, solving different types of puzzles, and listening to true crime podcasts. Currently she is learning Tagalog, which is a language spoken in the Philippines. She is already fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. In the future, Anna wishes to attend the University of Maryland – College Park and pursue a career in architecture. Journalism will offer a way to write a variety of stories highlighting the topic of architecture, as it is not discussed often.
