This poem was composed by senior Nina Ford to honor the lives lost in the attacks on September 11, 2001. The poem was read over the intercom on September 11, 2012.
On such a day like this
My heart throbs for those who only had one last kiss
One last moment of love to show
Not knowing that they would soon have to let go
On such a day as 9-11
Many people were lined up at the pearly gates of heaven
Because although America had no clue,
The terrorists had a job to do
Though many of us were not there,
Our hearts are still full of care
We send condolences to those as a helping hand,
Knowing full well we personally could never under stand
Condolences to the sister
She just her mister
Condolences to the daughter
She just lost her father
Condolences to the families
Because something as devastating as this is so hard to believe
So on such a day as this,
We all shed a tear and miss
Those times we used to just kick it and reminisce
Those times we used to play tag and race outside in the sun
Our fondest memories of our loved and lost ones
Even though it was your time to go,
There’s one last thing we need you to know
You are loved
You were our special gift from above
Only God knows why you finished so early,
But you will forever remain in our hearts, surely.
