Bubblegum pink pants, hot pink lips, and rosy pink dress shirts are among the clothes that students and teachers wore today to support breast cancer.
“It’s a good cause,” said world history and AP human geography teacher Mr. Brendan O’Connell, who himself wore pink today. “I would think it raises awareness slightly…. [but] even if it makes just one person more aware, I think its worth it.”
Junior Erica Gibbs, who arrived to school today in a pink sweater, said “I think it definitely brings awareness.” However, she mentioned that she thinks “a lot of people probably just wore pink to feel like they’re a part of something.”
Gibbs also mentioned “I feel bad for myself because I get more mad at people who didn’t participate in spirit week than people who didn’t participate in Think Pink Day, which is a far less trivial matter.”
Freshman Celeste Pazos, who wore pink pants and a black shirt with a pink polo logo, expressed her opinion about this awareness day. “I think it’s great that the county is showing a good cause such as breast cancer,” said Pazos. She continued, “There are awful things occurring, there are women like us who want to enjoy the rest of our lives and this is respect.”
