On senior night, the Eleanor Roosevelt varsity girls’ basketball team honored its graduating players in a game that meant more than just the final score. With a 9-4 record this season, the team has shown resilience and determination, but this game carried extra significance as the seniors took the court at home for their last home game of the regular season. Family members, teammates, and coaches gathered to celebrate their contributions both on and off the court.
Often overlooked, girls’ sports bring a vibrant, electric atmosphere, and senior night made that energy impossible to ignore. Senior Christina Kuriadom, a four-year member of the team says her favorite part of basketball has been the sense of community. Her relationships with her teammates have contributed to her love for this sport. She describes the team as “a group of people that always support one another. “They are like a family and work so well together,” she says. Although she does not plan to continue playing basketball in the future, she says there will always be a “part of me [that] loves the sport and the memories I’ve made here”. The ERHS community certainly miss her.
The seniors have played a major role in shaping the Eleanor Roosevelt girls’ basketball program. Through their leadership, dedication, and teamwork, they have shown what it means to represent their school both on and off the court. Their impact on the team will last long after the final game of their senior season.
