At noon on a beautiful Saturday afternoon that set the vibe for the celebration, the ERHS community gathered for the annual homecoming parade.
The surrounding neighborhood gathered to observe students proudly march around Hanover Parkway holding signs for various activities and clubs, such as Students Against Destructive Decisions, Desi Dance, French Honor Society, and the step team Dem Raider Boyz. The majority of individuals walked the parade route, however others drove around in fancy cars covered with decorative posters.
The parade lasted for about an hour, until everyone settled down into their individual booths. Music played in the background while students worked hard at their respective booths trying to convince the audience to purchase items as a fundraiser.
Senior Albert Murray said “I enjoyed the parade very much and the fact that I got to see people perform on the street was really cool”.
Unlike previous years, the homecoming parade occurred after the homecoming dance. Students talked about how they had enjoyed the night before and were looking forward to seeing the game.
As soon as the parade ended, everyone’s attention turned towards the game. The ERHS varsity football team defeated High Point High School with a score of 42-0, topping of the weekend of festivites.
