Jack Brittan-Powell, Opinion Editor

Jack Brittan-Powell is a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He has recently joined the school’s journalism class and is now the Opinion Editor and a staff writer for The Raider Review. He joined the school newspaper due to his deep love of literature, writing and being able to express his opinion in an open and accepting environment. He has very passionate political ideals, generally falling under the category of liberal, yet is also a realist, accepting things for what they are and trying to make the best of them. He also works to bring out idea from other people, even if they are different from his own ideas.

He participated in the creative writing program at his middle school and has written several short stories. He likes to spend his time reading, and his favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. While he enjoys a good book, Jack also has a deep passion for directing and cinema. When watching a film he looks for a deep narrative with a compelling story, much like what he looks for in novels. His favorite movie is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

His love for the arts does not end at literature and cinema, Jack also posses a love for music as well. He is in the school’s men’s choir as a 3 year member and before that played bass clarinet in the school band.
