DMV Art Part 2

Jordan Barton, Arts & Entertainment

Although the art shows are becoming less and less frequent DMV, artistry is in this area is still alive and well. These artists at Roosevelt have a few pieces they wanted to share. If you would like to do the same, submit your art to my e-mail: [email protected], or DM me on Twitter @RaiderBarton. The two following artists have long been musically talented, indicated by their impressive musical compositions at young ages.

tra: This young artist, who is just a sophomore made her musical debut by singing at Coffee House. She continues to spread her music on her soundcloud. Her music is the perfect background for doing homework and studying. If you are a fan of Erykah Badu or Sade, you would definitely appreciative her music. Look her up on soundcloud under “tra”–her soundclound link should read: https://soundcloud.com/tra-431488316/.

Makeup Girl: This alternative group composed of Roosevelt seniors Bryce Dubayah and Broderick Steck, Roosevelt alum Ryland Heagy, and another Northwestern student is finding their success quickly. Lately they have performed at local clubs and art shows. They are also finding their success on SoundCloud and Spotify. I would recommend listening to their song “Snow Was the End”–it’ll definitely get you interested in their other music. Look up “makeupgirlband” on soundcloud and “Makeup Girl” on Spotify to find more.

Devi: This creative Junior incorporates her desi background in her intricate art patterns. She has extended her art by achieving “one of [her] dreams” and selling phone cases and shirts with her creative prints. I would definitely recommend purchasing some of her merchandise if you like floral and symmetrical patterns. Check out her twitter, @NIRMANAZAKTI, where you will find more of her fascinating art and her website where she sells her art.
