As incoming freshmen adjust to the transition to high school, many have success tips for their fellow newcomers to ERHS.
High school is exciting, yet challenging for most students. Freshman Jonah Pitts explained he does not usually have easy days. In addition to learning, freshmen must adjust socially.
“Make a lot of friends,” said freshman Jerycho Herrera. “You will need their support.”
As the freshman spend more time here, they learn the importance of balancing grades and extra curriculum activities, as well as how to work in groups, and how to communicate with each other.
According to freshmen, the load of homework is far greater than that of middle school. “Do your homework and don’t turn in assignments late,” said freshman Emmanuel Swaray, when asked what advice he had for fellow students.
Freshman Austin Millet also stressed the importance of punctuality and dedication to work. “Get to class on time and do your home work, do your best on major assignments,” said Millet.
School can be fun, but freshman Tejaswi Pandey advises that other students balance that fun with hard work and good decisions. “Enjoy school,” she explained, “but don’t get into any trouble.”
A month into session, the freshmen will continue to learn and to prepare for success at ERHS.
