The Eleanor Roosevelt High School swim team has a history of winning championships. The team has not lost a dual meet in 8 years and consistently wins the PG County championship for both the boys and girls teams. They also place highly in regionals and have had swimmers qualify for states every year.

Senior captain, Billy Rosenberg said that, “this season I hope that we maintain our perfect regular season record and win counties in both girls and boys swimming.”  He added that, “regionals will be tough but hopefully we can push through and come out on top.”

Junior captain, Catherine Peterson said she has prepared for the season with her club team in addition to ERHS practices every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Peterson is looking forward to most is the 200 yard medley relay, a relay race in which four different swimmers engage in four different strokes, because “it’s more fun than individual events because it’s more of a team effort.”

The team kicked off the season on Saturday December 5th with a dominant victory against Suitland and Duval. As senior captain, Jack McKeown described it, the “team’s spirit this year is inspiring. The team is more united than we’ve ever been.”

By the looks of it, the Raiders will be in store for a successful season once again.
