The 2015 indoor track season is a highly anticipated season according to Coach Jason Powell, who claimed that this year’s roster is “the best team Eleanor Roosevelt has had in a while for both males and females.” Coach Powell expects many of his runners to succeed throughout the season and is confident that the team will compete at the state level.

Junior Alyson Allen, a seasoned cross country and track runner since her freshman year, agreed with Coach Powell saying, “the team has at least one highly competitive runner in each event, making this year’s team a tough one to beat.” Allen also mentioned the intense training the must undergo. “Indoor track is always more difficult to train for because of the constant cold weather, but if we continue to put in the work we are already putting in as a team, I believe this season will make for an extremely successful one” stated Allen.

Junior Edward Belsoi, star runner of the boys cross country and track team, also looks forward to the season with rejuvenated determination. After suffering from an ankle injury that put him out for a portion of this cross country season, Belsoi is “even more motivated and confident in his capabilities.” “I love the competition and I love running fast. It’s just great when you put in the work and you’re rewarded with a good time,” Belsoi concluded.

Coach Powell certainly expects great times out of his runners with the high standards he and Coach Champ have set for this year’s team. “We are training champions who will bring victory home,” which Coach Powell hopes “will bring recognition to the name of Eleanor Roosevelt High School.”
