Teacher Feature: Dr. Oram

Griffin Hall, Staff Writer

A veteran teacher with 20 years of experience including time teaching overseas, Dr. Mark Oram is a new teacher of Chemistry and Integrated science at ERHS.

He taught “first in England and then the last 10 years in the United States,” according to the teacher himself.  He has been employed at American University, Loyola, Stevenson, and “various community colleges,” so he is familiar with his craft.

Chemistry is one of his favorite subjects, so coming to ERHS was an easy decision for him. However, he is “delighted to teach any science class” at Roosevelt.

Dr. Oram is just getting settled in at Roosevelt, but is already eager to get involved. He was in a backgammon club himself in highschool and found it “fun and useful.” Next year he is already planning on creating a backgammon club. “It really helps with math and logical thinking,” he said, so it would be productive for the students.
