We want everyone to come to the 2026 Spring Showcase that is approaching fast! But why should you? Our school dance department has been working hard to put together a great performance for the entire school and more! Students from Dance 1 to Repertory (Dance 5), are all working together to do what they love. In this showcase you can see things from lyrical to ballet to hip hop to jazz and so much more. They had a very successful winter showcase where they performed many pieces.
Junior Valencia Jackson, a student who enrolled in Dance 2 is also a part of the exciting, upcoming performance in May. While performing “[She] is really excited” and “loves [her] dance so far.” Dance 2 has been working very hard on their majorette performance. She even adds, “I think people should come to the dance showcase to see everyone’s hard work and to really see a story and just culture to understand what dance is all about.” Junior Jasmine Krump, a Dance 4 student says that “dance allows [her] to start [her] mornings in a positive way.” Jasmine is also choreographing a quintet for the Spring Showcase. When asked about it she said “choreographing is a lot considering [she] is under a time crunch, but it’s also a great opportunity being able to see art come alive on the stage.” We asked Jasmine to describe her piece in five words and she described it as “bittersweet, emotional, slow, thoughtful, and sad.” Dance isn’t just another class to these students, it is how they can express themselves while being at school. They try their hardest to make a difference in their movement and express themselves in a way that most people cannot do in English or math class. Show up and show at the Spring Showcase on May 8th and let these students show you themselves how dedicated they are in what they do.
