On December 11th, 2025 the ERHS Dance Department hosted their annual Winter Showcases in the Dr. Gerald L. Boarman Auditorium. The show took place during 4th and 6th periods performing for their peers, teachers, and parents. The winter showcase displayed all of the hard work the dancers have put in over this first semester. Because of the 40 minute class period schedule, dancers get only 30 – 35 minutes of rehearsal time everyday. Which includes putting together 3 to 4 minute dances, rehearsing choreography, learning about dance history, technique work, and conditioning.
Karrol Mboe (Dance 4), a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt Highschool described her last winter showcase as a “melting pot of emotions” Being with the dance department for 3 years Karrol has shown us the dedication and passion for dance she has carried throughout her journey, as a performer. She is “grateful for every friend [she] gained, every laugh that kept [her] going, and every time [she] to perform and feel seen. As performers we are prone to growth, relying on moments such as these to make mistakes, create, express emotion and so on. Karrol says “you’re telling a story. You’re becoming the moment. You’re not just performing the dance. You are the performance. “
And don’t worry if your teacher didn’t get the chance to sign up for the Winter Showcase. The ERHS Dance department also holds an annual Spring Showcase in May both during and after school.
