The hurricane in Jamaica left a drastic impact on the country, many of the infrastructures and other assets it held. From October 28th, after it happened, to today, it has been dedicated to rebuilding and supporting everyone and everything affected. The last few weeks, Whether it was from organizations, officials, or even other countries, many different groups have had the heart and strength to help reshape to the best of their ability.
Jamaica was completely in shambles by the hurricane, however, because of the Tourism Resilience Coordination Committee, and the efforts of many officials, the government is determined and optimistic of a full replenishment of the country and all types of different areas and culture, such as tourism and infrastructure. Their goal is to even improve it with repairs and immediate focus on fixing and rebuilding everything by getting the resources together as well as the different aids, and a variety of voluntary work. The organizations have actually reached a date, 12/15/25 is the target date for a full recovery using its process. According to Trans World Radio, Cuba, specifically a few church organizations and even its own government, also implemented comprehensive preparedness measures and strategies in an effort to secure what remained, which worked excellently. This was after October 27th when Cuba was mainly affected by the storm.
The variety of help/support as well as ideas of what can be done has also come from even here, here as in Roose! Freshman, Grantley said, “Main thing is that along with neighbors, [his family in Jamaica] are helping each other as they lost power” Grantley has family who lost many resources from the storm including being able to contact to each other, his family here have sent food and money, while those over there are actively trying to make their way here to the U.S as well. Since the storm, many suffered a big loss, including the country in its entirety, but over the course of a few weeks, Jamaica has been receiving many different forms of support and help in rebuilding the country’s spirit.
