Among all the sports here at Eleanor Roosevelt Highschool, Boys Lacrosse is one of the most tragically underrated. The players are dedicated, juggling grades with constant wins against other PGCPS high schools. And right now, the goal is to highlight these students and their accomplishments.
For starters, Boys Lacrosse has been dominating the records since at least March 21st, 2024. They’ve beat a plethora of schools in shocking landslide victories, which have almost become habitual for them. They’ve beaten Duval and Northwestern by more than twenty points, beating Northwestern by a whopping thirty-two to zero. They’ve also beaten Laurel, Parkdale, Bladensburg, Suitland, Gwynn Park, all by at least ten points. Roosevelt shows itself to be tearing through the competition more often than not, and the scores show it.
We can’t discuss Roosevelt sports without describing the only few schools that might give Roosevelt trouble, namely Bishop McNamara and Patterson Mill. McNamara, however, has been in a struggle with Roosevelt since last year. They had defeated Roosevelt in a close match, to which Roosevelt answered this year with a 10 to 4 victory. Furthermore, boys lacrosse is going on their second consecutive time going to county championships.
More than just scores, our Roosevelt lacrosse teams are breaking new ground in the lacrosse world through other means. are dedicated to improving even further. Even while running a ten game undefeated streak, junior Rashid states that “sometimes we did win the match, but the match against ourselves is against ourselves is where we lost, specifically our mindset when approaching the game.” Boys lacrosse is demonstrates itself to be an ever-evolving game with ever-evolving players.
Throughout the lifespan of Roosevelt’s boys lacrosse team, they’ve changed the school’s perception of lacrosse. Junior Morris Ramsey says “I never really thought about lacrosse, as like an…intensive sport, but…now I get it a little more, y’know?” Junior Kevin Ramos noted the substantial score differences that boys lacrosse has earned, stating “I just think it’s crazy they win with double or triple the other teams points all the time.” No matter your opinion on lacrosse, you have to give our lacrosse teams credit for their hard work
