The undefeated Eleanor Roosevelt High School Wrestling team has achieved a remarkable 5-0 record to date. On December 12th, the team faced off against DeMatha Catholic High School. The team secured a 44-36 victory, showcasing exceptional performances by Freshman Austin Hayes, Sophomore Leo Foreman, Junior Ethan Lily, Nnaemeka Daniel Ezirike, and Oluwatunmise Stephen Faniyi.

Junior Ethan Lily going up to the scoretable to make sure he’s wrestling the right weight class.

After conducting interviews with several players, it became evident that many teamates shared a goal which is to qualify for the state championships. Team captain Ethan Lily expressed his hope for the majority of his teammates to achieve individual regional and county championships, while also sharing the team’s aspiration to make it to the state level. “I’m hoping that majority of the people (on the team) can get individual regionals and county championships,” he stated, adding, “I also hope for the team to make it to states.” This shared hope is embraced by both the managers of the ERHS wrestling team and the players themselves.
