This spring sports season was particularly successful for ERHS. In addition to regional wins in softball and lacrosse, the the ERHS tennis team had their third straight undefeated season this year and won the county championships for the second year in a row. This year’s squad consisted of 26 players, containing all grades of boys and girls.

Coach Barnes stated they had “an amazing season,” with new players and new faces joining the team. He also expressed his expectations for players during tryouts, wanting them to play with “full effort” and “determination.” Barnes explains how a daily practice would go for the team, ¨We start with stretching and have a brief warmup and go straight into practice, the students are very passionate and you can see that throughout practice as well as the game,¨ Consistently practicing and honing your skills allow players to improve in certain areas of tennis resulting in victories.

When asked what he would like people to know about Tennis, sophomore player Michael Bielec shared that tennis takes a lot of “dedication and time, there is a lot of practice and exercise.”  He goes on to say that “the team environment is really good the team is really close, we hang out outside of tennis. Coach Barnes is a really good coach he interacts with us and plays against us during practice and he has a lot of experience when it comes to the game.”

With the tennis season over, players are looking forward to next season where hopefully new teammates and experienced players will go undefeated once again.
