What is the J100 Scholarship?

The J-100 scholarship program encourages future leaders to join the US Air Force and Space Force by encouraging character, leadership, citizenship, and diversity. The J-100 scholarship covers four years of 100% paid tuition at any university, or crosstown partner, with an AFROTC detachment. A $10,000 per-year allowance for university-owned/on-campus housing. Also an annual book stipend, and a monthly cadet stipend.

How do you get nominated?

The J-100 scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in AFJROTC or SFJROTC who have at least two years of JROTC experience. Depending on the size of the unit, unit instructors may recommend 1 to 3 suitable cadets for this scholarship program. Before moving further with the application, Cadets must ACCEPT the nomination. After reviewing their application, two hundred cadets advance to the interview round, and out of those two hundred cadets across the country, one hundred are selected.

MD-901

MD-901 was happy to hear that one of our very own cadets, Cadet Colonel Tashane Freckleton was given the opportunity to receive a J-100 scholarship. Cadet Freckleton is a fourth-year JROTC student at Eleanor Roosevelt, and the current group commander of the MD901 unit. Not only was Ms. Freckleton, one of the three cadets chosen in Maryland to receive this scholarship, but she was also the only cadet in PG county! Ms. Freckleton will use this scholarship to attend any school of her choice. Schools she will be considering are Penn State, UPenn, Northwestern, LSU, and Hampton University. MD901 sends all luck to support to Ms.Freckleton for representing our unit so well!
