On October 23 the new collection of iPhones was released and it has buyers excited to grab the new beauty from the stores. The new collection comes in four styles: the iPhone 12 Mini starting at a price of $699, the iPhone 12 at $799, the iPhone 12 pro at $999, and the iPhone 12 pro max $1099. Prices have not changed from their usual annual price from years before. The new collection is equipped with the new 5G network that is referred to as “Hi Speed,” a new camera display, night mode, screen display, A14 bionic chip, Oled screen display and the new iOS 14 software update.

Critics and Apple fans have been waiting for the new collection of iPhones to be released and what they have to offer. As stated the new collection offers various updates that makes the phones worth buying.  Fans have been discussing on numerous social media apps about the similarities of appearances to the late iPhone 5.  The new shocking appearance surprised Raider junior Yasmine Simms. She says  “The aluminum build on the sides gives a similar look to iPhone 5, I feel it could possibly have the same potential in sales wise.” But is the new aluminum build enough to make Apple fans satisfied?

As expected critics compared and contrasted the new features and advantages with the old collections and some people are not satisfied with the outcome. Fans expected more from the new collection for the new decade and did not receive it.

Unfortunately there are multiple complaints about what the new collection has to offer. Some don’t like the features that have been taken away from previous models. With several reasons and preferences Apple fans take to social media and review websites to discuss frustration. Some are upset that the colors of last year’s models are not featured in the new ones.  As stated on Apple’s website, colors featured in the 12 Mini, and 12 are black, white, green, red and blue, the colors featured in the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro max are graphite, silver, gold, and pacific blue. This leaves out the colors from last year’s models such as  yellow, purple, midnight green, and space gray. Frustration and confusion  from a Raider Hallie Browner quotes “It’s not fair to include other colors in the new models and not all. I will not be purchasing due to that reason”.  Another huge complaint from fans is the pricing of the screen replacement.  For this year’s collection of the iPhones there has been an increase in the prices for screen repayments with an increase of $80. Apple states it’s “tougher than any smartphone glass.

But is that really a huge improvement from previous iPhones? Quoted from a Raider junior Divine Kamara “Apple tells its fans each year that there has been upgrades to the screens, so it’s not a contribution to a change.

Despite critics’ opinions and feelings, are you persuaded enough to go out and purchase one of the new iPhones? Are you impressed with any of the features Apple has added to the new collection, or do you feel it’s too expensive? Do you feel it has the potential as the late iPhone 5’s new shocking appearance? We would love to hear some fellow Raiders’ feedback and opinions. Respond with a comment below.
