Ask Zsyrii: Crushing Crushes

Zsyrii Ennis, Co-Editor-in-Chief

Dear Zsyrii,

My friend who’s a junior has developed feelings for a senior, and she doesn’t know what to do about her feelings.

-Concerned Friend

Dear Concerned Friend,

Crushes are already complicated enough whether they know you like them or not, so I understand that your friend is a under a lot of pressure. With me being a senior myself, long-distance relationships with underclassmen aren’t really on my radar.

I suggest that your friend should let her crush know how she feels about them, which will help her have clarity and satisfy her curiosity, which is perfectly fine. If the crush likes her back, then that’s good, but it’s not much she can do with that information since she decided to build the bond so close to their departure. However, there is always summer. If your friend is determined on talking to this person then she can talk to them during the summer but she also has to realize that summer comes to an end — and their relationship might do the same.

Overall, I suggest that your friend speaks up so she won’t regret not telling her crush, but not get her hopes up.
