Osmel Sosa Chavez is a junior who joined the Raider Review this year as a staff writer. He is also a Science and technology student and a member of the Eleanor Roosevelt wrestling team. Osmel joined the journalism class to improve and further his writing skills. Osmel is most interested in writing and reading about politics and sports coverage.

Osmel’s interest in politics has been fostered by a lifelong love of history, particularly early colonial America and exploration of the New World. Ap world history continues the yearly trend of his social studies class being his favorite for the year. This year, he is particularly excited to learn about medieval Europe and the Age of Exploration. Aside from politics and history, Osmel also has a strong interest in combat sports, soccer, and music.

Ultimately after graduating, Osmel hopes to go to UMD for political science and pursue a career in politics at the local level. He believes journalism will help him understand media coverage and practices along with improving his writing skills which will ultimately be extremely useful for his career in politics
