Ms. Lisa Yearwood teaches 10th and 12th grade English at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Ms. Yearwood has been teaching for about 15 years, her career began at Crossland High School in Temple Hills Maryland.
Ms. Yearwood said her inspiration comes from her love for literature, “I love books and reading, so I wanted to impart that love to others.”
Ms. Yearwood sponsors the National Honor Society at Roosevelt. She was also the sponsor at her former school Crossland High, and her duties carried over.
She first sponsored NHS at Crossland High by chance, “ I took over NHS at Crossland when the original sponsor became too sick,” said Ms. Yearwood.
Her favorite things from the job are the simple activities. “I enjoy lesson planning… I love lesson planning.” gushed Ms. Yearwood.
Ms. Yearwood said she loves her job just not the paperwork that comes along with it, “ I do not like the paperwork.”
Ms. Yearwood still appreciates simple gestures of appreciation, “ Receiving letters from my students, makes it almost all worth while.”
Terrence Walls, a junior here at ERHS who had Ms. Yearwood his sophomore year described her class as “very interactive” and said “ there were many discussions.”
