The raiders kicked off the football season with a 8-7 loss against  2014-2015 state championship winners, Frederick Douglass, on August 28, 2015.

Roosevelt’s head football coach, Mr. Thomas Green, said he feels as though the scrimmage went well, considering 35 of their varsity players graduated last year. Coach Green said he believes that “it will be a good season, the players are maturing fast, and getting up to speed.”

Many of the players, including senior Angel Sognonvi and senior RJ Rountree, said they think they did well overall. Rountree said, “We made many mental mistakes, as well as missing a couple of our starters,” adding that “we have been doubted a lot, and are out there to prove people wrong.”

Junior Bradley Agyei said he believed the Raiders “were looking great out there,” during the scrimmage.
