The Eleanor Roosevelt boys Varsity basketball team defeated the Suitland Rams 72-54 on Friday January 30, 2015 at home.

This is the second time the two teams played and the match up was fairly different this time around. The first game was much closer with a score of 69-67. With the score deficit being much larger the second game, ERHS has learned to play better against them. Senior Ayanna Hancock said, “We (ERHS) played much better defense this game, I think we played much better overall.”

Current senior guard, Ishmail Jabbie agreed with the teams fan adding, “It was a great team win, I can see the improvement from the first time to the second time we played them. In the first game we needed two overtimes, in this one we beat them by nearly 20 points. We didn’t do anything special, everyone just did their job and we got the W.”

With the team gaining all of these wins, many wonder how they will perform in the playoffs. Coach O’Connell replied, “The playoffs are still a long time away, I haven’t really given it much thought, I expect that we will play well. I know it’s gonna be hard, but we’ll be alright.”

The Raider’s next game was February 3, 2015 against the High Point High School Eagles at High Point at 7:00 p.m.
