Being a student while managing schoolwork, clubs, AP’s, and more is already difficult but managing a business on top of that seems impossible. Somehow Natashamae Lazaro is able to do just that. Lazaro is in her junior year at ERHS and she runs an at home baking business called Tasha’s Cookie Corner. Similar to Crumbl, she has a line-up of uniquely flavored cookies on select weeks and customers can DM her to purchase cookies for pickup or delivery anywhere in Maryland!
Lazaro has had a passion for baking since she was young. “Throughout my life I’ve always loved baking with my older sister. Once I began high school I took an interest in learning new recipes…I wanted to share my treats with my loved ones and friends who also inspired me to start my business.” Lazaro was able to turn a hobby into a means of making money and that isn’t something most can dedicate time to do. That is why managing time and planning ahead is a crucial step to be successful. “I bake on the weekends and deliver them throughout the rest of the week.” This is just one example of the many ways Lazaro manages her time. She also utilizes schedules, which everyone should use regardless of running a business. “…I make sure I have a set schedule and to-do list. If I have too much work or I’m busy on a certain weekend I will postpone my baking for that week. This gives me time for staying focused on my studies.” While running her business takes up a big chunk of time and is important, she still recognizes that school and her academics take priority.
As far as the menu, Lazaro offers a wide variety of delicious treats including cookies, brownies, dunkaroos, and cookie sandwiches. She offers unique flavors like Biscoff, S’mores, Cookie Monster, and so much more. Kailey Perdomoflores is a customer of Tasha’s Cookie Corner and she says, “I love Tasha’s Cookie Corner! Every single time I have ordered from her it tastes great. Her prices aren’t even that high…!” Speaking of, Lazaro’s prices are extremely affordable. Cookies range from $2-$3 individually. Brownies are $3-$4 each depending on its size. Dunkaroos are $10 each and cookie sandwiches are $4 each. These prices are great for students on a budget but please note that this business does not sell at school. These products are sold outside of school hours as pickup and delivery are available.
