With summertime quickly approaching, finding fun and affordable events can be a challenge– but it doesn’t have to be! We’ve compiled a list of events happening in Greenbelt, College Park, Hyattsville, Laurel, DC, and Bladensburg that anyone can attend for free or low cost. From festivals and movie nights to water parks and more, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy!
Greenbelt

Starting the second Sunday in May and running through mid-November (not Labor Day weekend), the Greenbelt Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 10 am – 2 pm at 25 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770. This market has locally sourced foods such as produce, baked goods, handmade items and much more. This is a great activity to support small businesses while also exploring new foods.
For a more activity-filled event, the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival is an annual event over Labor Day weekend, this year from August 29th – September 1st. This is held in and around the Roosevelt center. The festival includes carnival games, rides, food, live entertainment, a parade, and much more. It’s a fun way to celebrate the end of summer locally within your community.
College Park

Neighboring the UMD Campus the College Park Bowlero Located on 9021 Baltimore Ave, College Park, MD 20740 is a wonderful activity for everyone. This location offers unlimited bowling on Mondays for only $19.99 starting at 8PM. For the remainder of the week, on Tuesdays and Wednesday the unlimited starts at 7PM, Thursday at 8 PM, and Sundays at 6PM. In addition the $19.99 charge includes shoe rental but lane availability is subject to change based on the number of people in attendance.
With summer time almost in full swing Ellen E. Linson Splash Park is a fun outing for teens to enjoy. Located on 5211 Campus Dr, College Park, MD 20740, the splash park includes an outdoor pool for both children and adults and has several joyful amenities including a slide, and a climbing wall. As for pricing, for general drop in admission for residents, for adults it costs $6, for children/Seniors it costs $5. For non-residents, adults are charged $8, children/seniors are charged $7. Discounted admission is available, but those particular reservations would have to be made online prior. For the prices resident adults will be charged $5, children/seniors $4. For non-resident the price for adults would be $7 and children/seniors, $5.
Hyattsville

Hyattsville’s Summer Jam Series starts Friday June 20th with a Pride Month Celebration taking place at Driskel Park (3911 Hamilton Street) from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This event features live music, food, gift vendors, and giveaways. This event is a good way to celebrate pride month locally with friends and meet new people.
The series continues with a Backyard BBQ on Friday, July 18th at the City Building (4310 Gallatin Street). Although there is no Summer Jam event in August, people are encouraged to attend National Night Out on Tuesday August 5th at Driskell Park. The Summer Jam Series comes to an end with a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Friday September 19th at Heurich Park (2800 Nicholson Street). These events offer a great opportunity to enjoy live entertainment locally and engage with the community throughout the summer at fun filled events.
Laurel

Laurel MD is offering a handful of free outdoor entertainment this summer, the Friday Flicks and Concert Series hosted at Granville Gude Park. The events act as a perfect way to enjoy live music and movies. The schedule is in the image above with what kind of events will take place on different days.
Washington D.C.

Yoga in the park at 1698 Kennedy Street NW, Washington DC 20011 every Sunday at 9:00 AM offers a free guided yoga sessions suitable for all levels with the goal being to promote wellness. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water, comfortable clothing, and a yoga mat. It’s also encouraged to arrive early to be in a good spot and to check the weather since sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Scheduled Saturday June 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, this annual festival celebrates the diversity in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia through food, music, and cultural performances showcasing local cultures. This event will be held at 300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC. Ticket prices vary. Bladensburg

With many teens new to the road, Bladensburg’s Go Kart for only $8 gives teens a chance to experiment on the road stress free. Located on 4300 Kenilworth Ave, Bladensburg, MD 20710 it is only $8 for 8 laps. More so if you purchase more than 10 tickets it is one dollar off per ticket. Lastly, you can contact 301-864-0110 to reserve our party room for just $75 an hour. Throughout the week the hours Monday-Friday are 12PM-8PM, Saturday 11AM-8PM, and on Sunday 11AM-7PM.
