As Christmas arrives at ERHS, you might have noticed many fun and creative door decorations in the hallways or as you walk into your teacher’s rooms. Almost every year the door decorating contest takes place before winter break and it’s a competition in which students and teachers get to participate in this enjoyable activity. We give congrats Ms. McMahon and Ms. Price for winning on the second floor, Mr. Bradbury on first floor, and Ms. Ballard on the ground floor.
With some differences along the way such as no theme for the door decoration and contest being sponsored by Administration, for over two weeks students and teachers have been dedicating time and creativity to it. Some opted to look for ideas online, while others let their students’ imagination show on the door. Students worked on it during school, class, or lunch hours.
Junior, Grace Kargbo shares how amazed she was when she “walked in the hallways and noticed Ms. Bradbury and Ms. Ballard’s doors.” Kargbo shares how she would “watch other students in the hallways working on the doors,” and how focused they were by paying attention to every detail. Junior Kargbo, worked on the door decoration for World History teacher, Ms. Gee, and expressed how a “joyful time I[she] had with my [her] classmates working on it,” and wishes this school tradition keeps going.
Another junior student, Manty Kamara, shares how “lightful and creative teachers and students get to be,” and enjoys looking at teacher’s doors wondering how they come up with their specific ideas of decoration. Kamara empathizes with how she enjoys “watching doors being decorated around this time of Christmas,” and wishes more teachers to participate in this contest since she believes “it creates a more fun environment at school.”
