Easiest Cheese Danishes EVER

Easiest Cheese Danishes EVER

Hey Raiders! Welcome to LaceyBakes, a food blog where I post easy recipes for you to make at home. Today’s recipe is the easiest cheese danishes that you will EVER make. These danishes take less than half an hour to make, with minimal steps. Despite the short time, these danishes are rich, cheesy, and flaky that everyone will enjoy! Without further ado, let’s begin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 8 oz of cream cheese (one block)
  • 3 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 piping bag
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • 8 oz of any fruit filling (optional)

To preface this recipe, leave out your cream cheese for at least an hour or two before baking, and your puff pastry 40 minutes before baking. This makes the process of making the cheese danishes easier to prepare.

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Step 2: Take your sheet of puff pastry out of the package and lay it onto your baking sheet. Cut the sheet of puff pastry vertically three ways and horizontally in the middle. This will give you 6 pieces that will eventually give you your cheese danishes.

Step 3: In a bowl, fold your cream cheese and sugar together to create the filling. Then, put your piping bag in a cup (as seen in the picture) to make putting your cream cheese filling into the piping bag easier. Tie the end of the bag to make piping easier.

Step 4: Pipe your cheese filling in the middle of the individual pieces of puff pastry. You should use the majority, if not all of your filling when piping it.

Step 5: Once your filling is piped, combine your egg yolk and water to make an egg wash. Then, brush it onto the puff pastry part of the danish so that when baked, there will be a golden brown crust.

Step 6 (optional): Add a spoonful of fruit filling into the center of your danishes to create a sweet, fruity, and tart taste.

Step 7: Put the baking sheet with all danishes on them into the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 8: Once finished baking, take the danishes out of the oven and let them cool for about an hour.

Step 9: Enjoy!

Lacey Sponaugle, Opinions Editor
Ever since she was nine years old, Lacey Sponaugle, junior, found excitement in journalism after working in her elementary school’s newspaper and morning show. After working in this club, she found that journalism was more than what she previously thought it was (which was boring, adult stuff), but about the world around us; entertainment, opinions, academics, and more. Seven years later, she is working for the Raider Review as Opinion Editor. Lacey uses journalism as a way to be creative and have an outlet where she can speak on things that she cares about.  In school, Lacey’s favorite subjects are English and Journalism. They are the subjects where she can be the most creative with her writing. She wants to eventually major in journalism at a liberal arts college to fulfill this drive to write about things important to her.  Outside of school, she enjoys baristing at her job, and learning more about coffee. She also enjoys listening to old and new music, as well as watching films.
