The Eleanor Roosevelt High School cafeteria has a new look to it. The cafeteria needed a new refresh after decades of having the same old look. The renovation is thanks to PGCPS Food and Nutrition Services who oversaw the renovation over the summer of 2024. The new cafeteria adds some life to the space! The Food and Nutrition Services knew they had a quick and fast deadline to get the cafeteria done and they were working on it even when summer school was in session.
Senior Camrin Valentine stated that the old cafeteria didn’t “even want to make me eat in here,” and it had this dark and gloomy look to it. The new cafeteria “does add some light,” and he also thinks the money could have been spread to other projects too.
Some students think that the remodel should have included upgrades to food options, saying “even though we have a new cafeteria it’s like the food quality has gone down.”
The new renovations of the Roosevelt cafeteria has stunned the lunch ladies as more students question the new paint. One inside scoop has led The Raider Review to find most of them hate how many students disrespect the space, trashing it up, using profanity, and wasting their lunch. Some remark how “we make all this food just for 75% to be wasted in the trash or on the ground and it is not fair or right to us.” In the end everyone is somewhat glad for this change to the school cafeteria because it hasn’t changed since it was built and hopefully in the near future the school can remodel more spaces and students can learn to take care of them.
