The April 8th 2024 solar eclipse spectacle was where the moon passed between the Earth and the sun, captivating observers with its breathtaking display of alignment. This year a range between 1-4 million people were predicted to travel making this the biggest travel event. Junior Derek Offut and a few others traveled along with their families to see the eclipse from a better stand point where the moon completely covered the sun. Offut traveled to Texas and said “It was an experience I’ve never witnessed before.” He goes to state that “it felt so cool looking into darkness watching the moon cover over the sun for a short period of time especially because it rarely ever happens.”
As families and friends gathered around they felt anticipation while watching the moon slowly edge in front of the sun. During all this as the daylight dimmed and the atmosphere grew eerie and shadows were casting off of people bodies onto the ground. Many people used special glasses or viewing devices to safely observe the celestial phenomenon, while others experienced it through live streams or photos. Overall, it was a memorable celestial spectacle for viewers to enjoy.
