This year, ERHS welcomes new teacher Ms. Antoinette Brooks to the mathematics department.
While this is her first time teaching at Roosevelt, she has taught for 11 years prior at DuVal High School and High Point High School.
Originally a West Virginia native, she says she “wanted a change.” Ms. Brooks went to West Virginia University, where she got her undergraduate in math. She is now working on getting her doctorate.
A student of hers, Sophomore Anna-Kay Murray said, “Ms. Brooks likes to make things simple so we better understand what is going on.”
Another sophomore, Taylor Avent, said that “Ms. Brooks is very peppy and she is a fun teacher.”
However, Ms. Brooks is not a stranger to the staff members at Roosevelt High School. She taught summer school here at ERHS, and therefore already knows some of the administrators.
When asked about how she likes ERHS so far, she says, smiling, “I love the order, how things are done here.” Later, she joked, “Yes, I am a Raider now.”
