Amazon Go Grocery Store
February 16, 2018
Amazon is stepping up their game by opening a new grocery store without a checkout line. The grocery store had its grand opening in Seattle, Washington on January 22,2018. The only thing needed to shop is an Amazon account and the Amazon Go app on your phone to enter into the store, it is a fast and easy to go grocery shopping.
According to the Amazon website, the store is “roughly 1,800 square feet of retail space is conveniently compact so busy customers can get in and out fast”. They also have employees on standby to “work in both the kitchen and the store to prep ingredients, make our ready-to-eat food, stock shelves, and help customers”.
With the new technology we have now, will we need cashiers? Senior Aniya Shanks, who works at Shoppers grocery store, said that “customers mostly use the self checkout lines because it is faster”.
Some students think that we will always need cashiers, because “what if the technology stops working” said Junior Tatiana Boyd.
Senior Kayla Pringle said “The Amazon store is really cool, if they had that in maryland it would take almost all the grocery stores out of business”
