It’s about that time of the year again, Mr. Roosevelt is here. After taking a one year hiatus, the all-male talent show will make its way back to the stage of Eleanor Roosevelt High School.
Many Roosevelt students have been auditioning for Mr. Roosevelt. The auditions were held after school in front of a panel of student judges. During the actual show students will not be judging the show.
Junior John Blanco shared his experience about his audition.
“I’m auditioning because I thought it’d be fun, the cash prize at the end is just a bonus, [laughs]” said Blanco. “I hope I can win, there’s a lot of talent so I don’t know. After auditioning I’m still kind of nervous and jittery, it was fun and nice. A little nerve wrecking but I did enjoy it.” Blanco felt he could of done better with his singing but is still confident about his audition.
One of the student judges, senior Nia Nickerson, is looking forward to the actual show.
“This year’s Mr. Roosevelt is looking promising, we’re going to have a lot of good contestants,” said Nickerson. When asked if she saw a contestant that stood out Nickerson said, “Yes, I have thoughts, but I can’t share them. I want it to be a surprise, but we have some good acts yes, entertaining acts.”
