New Turf Field

Next week, athletes who play outdoor sports will practice and compete on a new artificial turf field. Starting October 14, night football games will also feature stadium lights and a press box.

The field has been under construction all summer to replace the natural grass with turf. Many athletes said they are excited for the new field.

Junior defensive back Solomon Douglas said he was “somewhat excited because we get Friday night games and a better atmosphere.”  He said the new field will take some adjusting, but that “it shouldn’t be that hard I’m use to playing on turf but football is football.”

Sophomore lacrosse player Austin Wilson agreed. He said “ the field about to be great can’t wait.”

Athletic Director Coach Thomas Green said the field will be ready next week, but that the lights will not be done until October 14.

“Students and more teachers can come to the game since it’s Friday instead of Saturdays,” Coach Green said.
