On April 5, the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders Boys’ Lacrosse team demolished the Gwynn Park Yellow Jackets, by a score 20-2. Senior Griffin Hall, who is also a member of the Raider Review staff, lead the team with 10 goals and 1 assist.

Sophomore Elias Kallon said “before the season started I would stay after school everyday and play wall ball to work on stick skills. Now that the season has started, I do my own exercises to stay fit and in shape.” Kallon had 3 goals during the game, and he went on to say that “definitely before the season a weakness was using my off hand because in lacrosse you need to use both. I think my strengths were my speed and knowledge of the game.”

Kallon added that “the game was great. 20-2 is an awesome point spread and a huge representation of our ability as a team. It gave us insight into what else we need to work on while also showing us how well we worked together.

Junior Duncan Corcoran who made 2 goals and had 3 assists during the game said “the game went really well. It was a great chance for all our players to have some experience and it was good to put a win on our record.” Corcoran said he believed that the “defense was solid, offense and midfield were good too. The main thing that needs improvement is our overall passing.”

Senior Corey Lewis also believed the game went well. “I think the game went excellent considering that it was most of the team’s first time playing a real game of lacrosse including myself”, said Lewis. Lewis, who is the goalie of the Raiders, had 8 saves and only let 1 goal in. He added that he has been doing “different drills to better myself as a goalie and watching YouTube videos to learn the sport”

Having started out the season with a strong win, the Raiders are now moving forward with their focus on a big game against their rival Bowie approaching on April 12.
