Joseph Conaty, Staff Writer
Joseph Conaty is a senior and staff writer at Eleanor Roosevelt High School who has always had a love for writing. He has written news articles previously for the Filipino newspaper, Manilla Mail, and has most recently written an article for the Mabuhay Inc Culture School newsletter. Joseph joined journalism to sharpen his writing skills and to adapt his capabilities as a writer to a new environment. Another reason why Joseph joined Journalism was that Joseph believes he has the ability to inform and to make people’s lives better, which means it’s his responsibility to do so through writing. Outside of school, Joseph practices trumpet for ERHS’s symphonic band and violin for Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra’s symphonic orchestra. Being able to tell his peers about the current political situation of the Philippines is a main focus that Joseph wants to accomplish eventually. In the future, Joseph plans to attend the University of Maryland for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism or the Purdue Writing Lab at Purdue University. Alternatively, Joseph also recently got experience working at NASA and wants to pursue a career in science too by studying biology. He is still in the tough process of choosing which career would be the most fulfilling for him in the future.
