Opinion: Which Immigrants Matter ?

A trending topic today as we all know is the presidency of Donald Trump. With his new ban against several majority Muslim countries, none of those being countries who were a threat to us, and him speaking his blunt views on immigrants, how can he say much about immigrants when the women he married and the women who birthed him are immigrants? It has nothing to do with protecting America and making it better, it’s about race. Trump has made it clear on multiple occasions how he feels about minorities.

This man could be sending us back to harsh and depressing times. He has had negative comments about African Americans, Mexicans, and Muslims, but as long as you don’t fit in any of those categories you should be accepted as an immigrant?

Donald Trump is an opinionated man who has only good intentions for certain people in America, but not us as a whole. He has been president less than a month and has already made a 90 day ban for these Muslim countries including Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq.

Trump’s mother was a Scotswoman who migrated to America and married Frederick Trump who’s origin was Germany, his wife being a Slovene women, but how does someone with so much hatred for “immigrants” have so many connections to them? Trump is a hypocrite, we must consider what he could really mean when he says “make America great again,” and who he’s making it great for.

In this country if two students, one Christian and one Muslim, did something wrong, people might differentiate the intentions of each. Trump would suggest that the Muslim students orchestrated the entire thing. The Christian student, he would say, just made a bad decision because of a negative influence. To Donald Trump it is easy to distinguish between the two because in his eyes Muslims – or any minority for that matter – can do no good.

Who knows what harm this man could do in the next 4 years going forward? We are in a downward spiral and this is just the beginning. Trump has showed us who he is, he is a man who wants power, and now that he has it he is going to abuse it.

Donald Trump should do good things with the power he has inherited, but we know that he is not going to. He is going to bring us down as a country and this could potentially lead to wars that put  America in a bad place. Just because Trump has the power doesn’t mean we should just lie down and let him abuse it. We the people must fight for what is right.
