Space Shuttle ‘Discovery’ Flies Over ERHS

ERHS students were sent outside during a mock fire drill to see the last flight of the space shuttle ‘Discovery’. A fire alarm alerted students to leave the building during second period and go outside. Students were soon told that the shuttle would be flying over ERHS and NASA Goddard riding piggy-back on a special 747 for people in the greater metropolitan area to witness its last mission.

Students and staff saw the shuttle in the distance but were taken inside to start third period. Senior Alex Lee saw the shuttle fly over ERHS in the beginning of third period and ran outside to take a photo.

The shuttle landed at Dulles that afternoon and will be taken to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space museum to be put on display.
